We found this little guy on the ground. Outwardly he seems perfectly fine, except he has red eyes (I’m not sure if that’s normal or not). He can’t fly well at all. My mom thinks he might be blind but we’re not sure. He also seems to be breathing really fast (but again, I don’t know how fast they normally breathe).
I’ve never taken care of a parakeet and have no clue how to go about this other than to give food and water and hope for the best. :’D
((Generally the smaller they are the faster they breath but in his case it might be stress that is elevating his heart rate. Red eyes aren’t entirely uncommon, especially in different color mutations, so it really could just be in his genetics.
Personally I recommend putting him somewhere warm and safe with food and water. Once he’s had a chance to calm down a bit it should be easier to tell from watching him if there’s anything wrong. Birds are very good about hiding symptoms but trembling, coughing, generally acting lethargic or constantly being fluffed up can be signs of health issues.
Problems with flying could be from a virus which isn’t uncommon among wild birds. It impairs their nervous system and motor skills but generally they can have a good life if put into a setup that is adjusted to their needs. Is he’s stressed that could also impair his flight for the time being.
I do recommend keeping him quarantined until you better know what may be wrong with him and keep him away from your chickens. Better yet, wash your hands after handling him and preferably change clothes too. It’s better to be safe than sorry especially if you have other birds and pets.
—— EDIT——
Don’t be too worried if he avoids the food and water at first. Again it’s a stress thing and it’s not uncommon with pet birds to do the same thing when they are brought home for the first time.
He’d probably appreciate some millet, which is fairly cheap at pet stores, and some fruit or veggies.))
She was free! At long last the restrictive bandages were off and she could stretch her wings. Sure there was still a layer of the itchy white ones on the side of her face, neck and breast, but compared to before Murder Bird could tolerate them. For a while, at the very least.
…
Kushka flicked her ears forward, listening to the mandibuzz’s story, and gave a snort of interest. So her human had not been the only one sent out to hunt these gods: there were others too. Poor little Murder Bird! Her prize had been much more problematic that Kushka’s.So you too hunted gods,” Kushka snorted. “We were sent out also. Not for the ice golem, but the Horned One. For you to fight a god? You should be proud of yourself.”
She nudged Murder Bird gently with her muzzle, nickering as she did.
“It was a god?” Murder Bird’s eyes grew wide and she nibbled gently at Kushka’s nose in return. She had fought a god!
Back when she was a chick her mothers told stories of the beings that whipped up sand into storms and brought the rains. That was about all she knew of gods. They had only been stories until now.
Oh yes, this would make for fantastic bragging rights.
“And Kushka’s god? ‘The Horned One’? What was Kushka’s god like? Was it big and scary like the Ice one that I fought? ” Murder Bird was glad that she had made the trip; spending time with Kushka again was as relaxing and informative as always.
Even before Hypno broadcasted the thought, she could not have taken it back. She thought it, and with the other two already in her head, they heard it before she gave it to them.
Lady and Isa both heard that first start and everything that followed that explained where her apprehension arose.
Neither of them thought it was stupid.
<It is not…> Lady’s thoughts started and faded out. She hadn’t gotten the direct approach of mental communication down yet. She still relied heavily on abstract visuals to speak her mind. <It is…>
Oh this would be easier, if even only a little bit, to pick up if she had that sixth piece of her mind here.
<That is not bad.> the thought came through simply.
Isa, who had been looking patiently up at Lady, now looked at Hypno once more.
<You are afraid for these others. Your squadmates?>
Isa sighed, nostrils flaring. She let Hypno in on a little secret, leaking out the sentiments she had toward her own team. A little group of cracked pink eggs, a tiny orphaned gothita, a big pink lump that was for all intents and purposes too dumb to live.
Isa was the closest thing those pokemon would have to a mother, and they, as close to children as she would get. They were her children.
But they were their own people too.
<And what if I am not there, and Alina is struck down in battle? What if I am not there, and someone runs over slowpoke with their jeep? What if I am not there, and Lady gets mites and they weaken her until she dies?>
Lady shuddered and was not at all pleased with Isa using that as an example.
<Their fates are their responsibility my dear, and no one else’s. You can do only what you can do, and nothing more.>< But when I can see what will happen…> Ah no, this was just going around in circles now and this was something that she’d have to settle within herself. Besides she was very curious about the bits that Isa had leaked about the rest of her team.
They were all psychics and all so different and Hypno found this interesting. Even Lady’s current ‘speech’ impediment was interesting. Was this the kind of problems that she faced when first communicating with humans? It was frustrating at the start, that much she remembered for sure.
< I do not get to talk to our kind very often, and I find this very… informative.
<I am a little bit jealous of your family, and how it must be to be in this situation and grow with them, and in turn see them grow too. I am thankful that you are sharing with me what you have discovered for yourselves along the way.
<I have taken knowledge from you, so now may I ask if there is anything I can offer in return, even if it is just my thoughts on a matter?>
<Then choose. Not to see. Exercise your ability until it is yours, and not you, its. Your mind is as much a part of you as your legs. And your legs do not run away with you unless you choose for them to.>
Isa didn’t need to say anymore, as Hypno realized, just as Isa was too, that this conversation could easily go on forever. Isa would indulge Hypno as long as she wanted, but it was true, there would be no verbal conclusion to it.
Only Hypno’s actions performed by her and her alone could conclude this train of thought.
She lied patiently on the ground as Hypno said her piece.
Then Isa hefted herself up to her feet, oinking perpetually all the while, and closed the distance between herself and Hypno. She pushed her snuffling nose into Hypno’s short mane and nudged under her chin, and nibbled at her fur.
<We are all family here dear, even if we don’t know each other.>
She chuckled aloud and gave a heavy snort, then backed away.
<Certainly my dear, if you have any knowledge to share. Tell me how you conquer your other problems.>
Hypno was beyond flattered by Isa’s choice of words. Family? Family was good, and to be considered family was a very generous offer. Family also brought to mind something that could be of use to Lady.
<… I do not know the cause behind Fair Lady’s problem, unless you wish to share of course,> In such matters manners and politeness were always key.
<But it does remind me some of my adolescence. I shared with you tibbits earlier, little images and feeling from my past and present. That was, is, the most direct and basic way we talked. ‘Words’ didn’t come until later when we had grown more. It was mostly repetition on the adults part. They would talk to us both ways at the same time until we started to do it to.>
<Though I do not know if this would be how your family would teach you.>
She was free! At long last the restrictive bandages were off and she could stretch her wings. Sure there was still a layer of the itchy white ones on the side of her face, neck and breast, but compared to before Murder Bird could tolerate them. For a while, at the very least.
Her human had been instructed to leave her out of her pokeball as much as possible when she came to pick Murder Bird up. More free time not spent wrapped up or stuck in the ball? Very good! She’d take advantage of that the first chance she got, and within an hour her human was off to do whatever she did and Murder Bird was left unsupervised.
It took Murder Bird a moment to recognize the dark Rapidash as Kushaka and she was beyond impressed. How impressive Kushka was now, like a carefully carved piece of charcoal feeding the fire that ran along her back. A true embodiment of of fire. Kushka never failed to be a source of awe and inspiration for Murder Bird
<I fought an Ice-thing. It was great and cold and strong, and I fought it! It was scary, but I was brave and -woosh!> She spread her wings as wide as she could, the burnt tips reaching for the sky grandly.
<My fire grew! And I was strong too, but then it cheated and the yellow one that, umm… ‘tele-ports’, was scared and left and didn’t do it’s work! That is why I got hurt. It cheated and went ‘boom’, everything was loud and hot, hotter than my fire, and then it was cold and I was hurt everywhere.>
Murder Bird dropped her head sullenly. It had cheated, yes, but she still lost to it. That wasn’t as impressive as she had meant to make it sound. That was alright though, this was Kushka and she’d understand how strong Murder Bird had been. Kushka would understand it.
And she’d get a chance to tell the story right when she found Pi-oter, anyways.
<But I am here now, and it is not, so I still won?>
Haha silly hypno, don’t you know all psychic swine are full of pearls of wisdom?
Isa let her head lull to one side and listened as Hypno began.
Lady carefully took a seat to listen too.
Hypno talked and Isa nodded.
Perhaps in times before such events had occurred. There had been massive wars in Unova, in Sinnoh, even in Kanto and Johto’s pasts that involved monsters too. Never like this, to this scale and this amount of collaboration and involvement. But maybe in them, there were answers to be found.
Isa did not know such wars had ever existed though. One cannot know something that they are never given the option to learn.
Isa’s nodding waned, and she tilted her head the other way to ponder Hypno’s last words. Hidden behind her floppy ears, she slowly blinked.
Frightened, by how fleeting life is?
A deep breath inflated Isa like a beach ball, and was heaved out forcefully.
<What is there to fear?> Isa chuckled aloud, like water over gravel deep in her gut.
<Of all creatures to fear time, it is not for those like us to do so. What is it you fear deary?>< I am afraid of being late. >
Hypno wished she could take her reply back almost immediately after she had offered it up, oh how stupid she must seem to actually fear being late. Not that it was untrue by any means.
Her entire life within the Kanto military was based around being exactly on time. That was her job. She couldn’t afford to be late, and the times that she had been still weighed heavily on her.
And now with all these thoughts about the future and it’s possibilities, and even the potential she had for looking into it was incredibly stressful. What if she saw something horrible and there was no way to change it, or, what if in trying to achieve the future she saw she messed something up or got the timing wrong. As exciting as the initial prospect was the more thought she put into it the more it worried her.
< I am full of ‘what if’s, it seems. >

Hypno’s introduction reached both Lady and Isa loud and clear.
Lady took it in with curiosity and politeness. Isa scrutinized what she was presented with, after an initial distaste for having this story unexpectedly pushed on her.
Must be a hypno thing.
Isa didn’t feel her past was necessary to understand who she was. It was nobody’s business, and for no reason other than that it was hers to choose what she did with it, tell or not tell. She gave little introduction for herself except a ‘name,’ a mental vibration that Hypno could identify her with, and a gruff snort that had no psychic connotations, merely clearing her throat to announce she was about to begin.
She mulled it over, opening up her thoughts so the others could hear.
This was something she had thought about before. She thought about it more often than she really should, if she were being perfectly honest.
She looked up at Lady, who looked down at her.
Isa laid down on the ground with a deep rumbling sigh, getting comfortable.
<My dear I have asked this question myself before. The three of us are adults. My sister here will grow much larger, and much stronger, as her un-animal kind do. You and I though.>
Isa’s head scraped along the ground to look directly at Hypno.
<We. In every sense of that concept I can only answer as I have theorized myself.
We, you and I. You, who have only just evolved like my sister here. You and she, you who have been given new skins that you will grow into. That is what you grow into, in that sense. You grow into what you are until it is you.
We, monsters, in this era we are on the cusp of something unprecedented. Perhaps you, if you hone your skills, could look into the future and see what path we will take.
We will become something far greater through the violence of these humans, and we will overpower and destroy them. We will fight back.
We will grow complacent in their enslavement and they will destroy us.
We will grow together with them, and continue to grow side by side. We will grow into a harmonious society.
See into the future and tell me if I’m right, dear, after you have grown into yourself.>
Then Isa burped.Hypno decided that, for a Grumpig, Isa was a wise creature.
Hypno’s question had indeed been a two sided one and both of the answers that Isa had offered up resonated as true, or as close to being true as Hypno could understand at that time. And so many new thoughts and ideas sprung from this perspective that she had been presented.
<I think… If I may,> Hypno offered, incredibly eager but still mindful to try and keep what she offered back clear and concise despite just starting to understand the concepts herself.
< I think this is all so new and, as you said, unprecedented. This is new and happening now and we, all of us that are affected, are experiencing something that our kind haven’t before. There is no story or tale that will show us what is the path that was taken and had been taken since.
I think that it is us. We are the First and what we possess is new compared to the old that is the standard that we hold our lives to, and that is very frightening.
You say that perhaps when I hone my skills I might see the direction in which we head, but I am fearful of time and how quickly it is spent.>
Despite her insecurities Hypno made a promise to herself that, should her abilities show her the future before it was realised, she would find Isa and share what she learned knowledge with her.
Haha silly hypno, don’t you know all psychic swine are full of pearls of wisdom?
Isa let her head lull to one side and listened as Hypno began.

< I am full of ‘what if’s, it seems. >
Let’s start a betting pool for the R7 outcome
*throws in 500 Pokedollars*
I bet everyone dies
LOLOL
No way man, nobody here is going to kill off their main character…
Nobody’s got the guts to.
REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY. but seriously if I’m being honest I bet it’ll be fifty fifty for deaths.
There’s pretty much a 75% chance that Holmes/Sierra is killing Sergei and basically a 98% chance the Madigan will bite the dust too. (THINGS THAT LETMIS ASSUMES BTW)
I’ll bet on the ‘if not main character then their pokemon/npcs’ card, personally. Blood will be spilled >D
((Slowly making R7 team ref updates
I also think I’m the first person to equip their pokemon with armor???
Also spoilers: Murder Bird survives! :DDDD))
